The IMSA Mazda is the closest I can think of a Matchbox casting that honours the original Firstgeneration (SA/FB) Wankel engined RX-7.
Yet again, Hot Wheels seem to have got another premo casting. Matchbox could have really done with something like this to freshen up the range.
What I like about this casting is the detailing and tampos. Not that bothered - for once - about the rear light detail but the "sponsoring" of the model does give it a good old skool feel about it - a far cry from the mad graphics that blight many a modern casting.
Not sure how difficult it would have been to make this casting the lights popped up - now that would have been summat special.....
