BMC ADO17 was the model code used by the British Motor Corporation (BMC) for a range of cars produced from September 1964 to 1975 and sold initially under its Austin marque as the Austin 1800. The car was also sold as the Morris 1800 and Wolseley 18/85, and later as the Austin 2200, Morris 2200 and Wolseley Six. In Denmark it was sold as the Morris Monaco. Colloquially known as the "Landcrab", the 1800 was voted Europe's Car of the Year for 1965 – the second year of the award, and a second successive contest win for the UK, the Rover P6 having won the award a year earlier.
They have been re-created within the Corgi Vanguards range, but are not new castings by Hornby/Corgi legacy - so a good time to have a proper review of them.
I think that these two are very very good castings. They accurately reflect the cars themselves with a good level of detail. It is also a clever casting – same baseplate, and small changes to the front nose turns this from a Morris to an Austin to a Wolseley. So a few variations can be had of the BMC ADO17 .
As of late, there has been a lack of new additions to this model. I would really like to see a Wolseley Six 2200

which was quite a rare one on British roads and distinguished by those 5 spoke on black wheels.
I am also thinking that this casting can easily be adapted (cast re-jig??) into the Austin Maxi – this is still not present within the Vanguards range to date. Why, I do not know but should be.
